Hermitages Route

Hermitages Route in Laspaúles: a journey through history, nature, and unique panoramic views.

Discover the Hermitages Route of Laspaúles, an ideal itinerary to enjoy with family and connect with the essence of the Aragonese Pyrenees.

Visit the Hermitage of San Roc, the Hermitage of Santa Paula de Turbiné, the Hermitage of Santa Llusia, and the Church of Ardanué de Villarrué, among others.

Family-friendly hike, easy and with great views.

Take the road towards Villarrué, and about 300 meters past the Hermitage of San Roc, take a red dirt track to the left, before the sharp curve leading to Villarrué. Follow the track until you reach the HERMITAGE (1479 m), about 2 km.

This is a 12th-century hermitage classified as a Property of Cultural Interest. It consists of a single nave oriented to the East, with a semicircular apse slightly off the building’s alignment.

It is possible that a population center existed here during the Middle Ages.

You will find the Panoramic Viewpoint of Santa Paula de Turbiné, with views of El Turbón and Gallinero — two well-known mountains of the Aragonese Pyrenees. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

You will also find a Mountain Nativity Scene (installed by the Turbón Laspaúles Mountain Club). Every year, during the Constitution-Immaculate Bridge holiday, children deliver Letters to the Royal Pages, a deeply emotional event for the little ones in the family.

The Romanesque hermitages route is comfortable and easy, offering spectacular views.

The Hermitage of Santa Llusia stands out for a spring with therapeutic properties for the evil eye. There is mention of the connection between the winter solstice, Saint Lucia's day, and the enchantresses, adding a magical touch to the site. The importance of the solstices and light is related to tradition and the Julian calendar.

Totally rebuilt from a previous one dating back to the 16th century, with a water well inside.

In summary, the route offers a cultural, historical, and natural experience, highlighting the connection between magical elements and the celebration of Saint Lucia in a charming setting.
